My (younger) sister used to teach English to Japanese students and one of her former student gifted her a lovely Japanese fan.

It was all pale and silky pink with prints of delicate flowers on it.

After months of constant (and not so delicate), eh, fanning (not surprising given our often warm weather), the cloth started to tear away from the fragile wood.

Here are a few close-up shots of the fan I took after it expired.

You curl and twist, delicately fragile, like cherry blossoms.
